THE COACH HOUSE Bed and Breakfast is situated in Uckfield just outside the ‘old village’ within the Streatfield family’s former Rocks Estate. The A22 and A272 are a short drive away and the town is a 15 minute walk away. Open country side lies to the north and there are pleasant walks through the Rocks Estate on the doorstep.
The Coach House itself dates back to about 1750 and was originally the coach house to the nearby Manor House. It was converted to a home about forty years ago and while extended and extensively modernised, it still retains many of its original features.
Jonathan and Annie Hill are your hosts. They bought the Coach House in May 2003 on return from 4 years living and working in Cape Town. Annie, an Australian by birth, says she has lived in the UK for nearly thirty winters. She runs her own Interior
Design company from a studio in the grounds. Jonathan is also based on
site, running a Business and Brand Development Consultancy. They decided to open their house to bed and breakfast guests once their two girls had flown the nest. Kathryn and Rebecca appear from time to time but now The Coach House is mainly home to Jonathan, Annie, their dogs and cats and a number of Koi Carp when they deign to appear. Their aim is very focused on ensuring their guests enjoy their stay, be it helping to plan visits to local areas of interest, or simply making a business trip away from home as pleasant and stress free as possible. The emphasis is very much on flexibility, the key is to just ask.
The Coach House provides free wireless broadband access to all guests while Jonathan’s office, which is fully equipped with computers, printers, scanners etc, can be made available giving business guests a real home from home support service.
Extras. Can be arranged to make your stay easier, including station or airport pick ups, hire of a limousine and chauffeur, self-drive car hire, etc. Simply ask in good time.
Other information. All the bedrooms and public rooms are strictly non-smoking.
The Coach House has an automatic, integrated fire detection and alarm system throughout the building.
A rechargeable emergency hand held light is provided in each guest room.
